Golf in Romania

The first man who ever played golf in Romania was King Ferdinand I and the first woman was Queen Mary, in 1923.
In 2004, after being a prohibited sport in Romania during the communist period, was created the Romanian Golf Association. Romania`s first golf course was born on Prahova Valey, in Breaza, designed by the great architect Andras Peres, with expert help from Ronald Castillo, the champion from Hawaii.

Premier Golf Club
Premier Golf Club is located close to Downtown Bucharest, in "Arenele BNR" sport complex, 37 Doctor Lister Street. There is only one other indoor location in Bucharest, equipped with a golf simulator.

New golf course in Bucharest

The Romanian-Swiss company Swiss Golf & Leisure Development from Bucharest will build the first 18-hole golf course in the Capital City.
According to companys officials, the project is dedicated to golf fans, who will be able to enjoy the fascination and the tradition of the most elitist game in the world.
Swiss Golf & Leisure Development Company was established in June 2006, its shareholders being five individuals from Switzerland and Romania.
The main share, namely 54.9 per cent, is held by Radu Dan Chiriac, German citizen living in Switzerland.
